January 2011

Happy New Year!!! I hope you had a good festive break.
I have a FREE download available at www.facebook.com/seantaylorsongs. It’s a track from my forthcoming album ‘Love Against Death’ which was recorded in Austin, Texas and it will be released in March.
The featured song is called ‘Kilburn’ and is the story of where I come from in North West London.
December 2011

In December I opened for Iain Matthews’, Matthews Southern Comfort in Barton Upon Humber, followed by two cool shows in Malton and Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire. I finished my gigging for the year with a lovely show at the St Donats Arts Centre in Glamorgan.

November 2011

November was a good month for me with great gigs in Nottingham, Cornwall, Ascot, London, and Manningtree.

My new album has just been mixed and is about to be mastered, it will be released in March on SGO Records via Proper Distribution. The album was recorded in Austin, Texas and features amongst other things a duet with country singer Eliza Gilkyson.

October2011

I have just come back from recording my new album in Austin, Texas, with incredible producer Mark Hallman. Mark has produced Carole King, AniDi Franco, Eliza Gilkyson, Tom Russell and Iain Matthews. He has also worked with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Lyle Lovett and Oasis - not at the same time, although that would have been an interesting album. It was an amazing couple of weeks, recording 12 songs in total. The album should be ready for release next  spring along with March 2012 UK tour.

September 2011

I have had a very busy September with a 23 date UK tour. It was great, meeting loads of lovely people along the way. A few days rest then I'm off to America to record my new album.

August 2011

August was a good month with great shows at in Armagh and at the Beautiful Days Festival in Exeter.

July 2011

July was a great and very busy month with around 15 shows all over the country including Ashley Wood Festival (Tisbury) , Africa­­­­­­­n Linx (Cropredy) , Rhythms Of The World (Hitchin), Tolpuddle Martyrs (Dorset), Secret Garden Party (Huntingdon), Summertyne Americana Festival (Newcastle), Chagstock (Devon), and Cambridge Folk Festival.

My album ‘Walk With Me’ will be re-released via SGO Records and Proper Distribution on the 5th Sept. There will be a separate email in the coming weeks with more information and tour dates for the re-release.

June 2011

I had a fantastic June with tons of gigs, starting in Cork, and then going to in Bristol, opening for the amazing Dick Gaughan, great gig. I returned to one of my favourite festivals, the lovely Beverley Festival in Yorkshire, followed by the beautiful Leamington Peace Festival, and I have just returned from the magical Glastonbury. A quick breather then off again

May 2011

May was a great month with lovely shows in Market Harborough, in Salisbury & at the magical Small World Festival. In June I return to Glastonbury & Beverley Festivals as well as Cork X Southwest in Ireland.

April 2011

April was another good month with lovely shows in Cambridge, Knaresborough and Basingstoke. The summer is shaping up to be my best yet with bookings at Glastonbury Festival, Cambridge Folk Festival, Beautiful Days, Beverley Folk & Roots, Chagstock, Summertyne Americana Festival, Cork X Southwest, Rhythm Festival, Secret Garden Party, Small World Festival, Tolpuddle Martyrs, St Ives Festival, Rhythms Of The World, Stratford Folk Festival, Weyfest and South Hills Bllues Festival in Armagh.

March 2011

March was a good month with sell out shows in Manchester, Kelvedon and a wonderful show in Brittany. I was featured in Acoustic Magazine with a two page interview; 'with a new album 2011 looks set to be his year'.

February 2011

February was another excellent month, with magical gigs at the Pocklington Arts Centre and in Cropredy at the Brasenose Arms. I toured Holland again including a lovely show at Meneer Fritz in Eindhoven. I returned to the lovely Whitstable Folk Club as well as the great Cellars @ Eastney in Portsmouth.

January 2011

January was a magic month for me. Some highlights were a live session on the Bob Harris Radio 2 show (aired 2nd Jan),  a charity gig for the fantastic Paul Jones at Cranleigh Arts Centre, including the legendary PP Arnold and a performance at the fantastic Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow - great night!!!

December 2010

December was a good month with supports for Martha Tilson and Aynsley Lister. There was also various reviews in music magazines.

November 2010

November was a great month for me, with shows all over the place. Opening for the legendary Tom Paxton in Liverpool, for Otis Gibbs in Newcastle, the Strawbs in London, as well as shows in Kettering, Southampton and a wonderful gig at the AFO conference in Nottingham.

October 2010

It’s Sean Taylor. Hope all is well. October was a good month with shows in Farncombe and various shows in London. I have just been confirmed for the amazing Celtic Connections Festival on the 27th January in Glasgow,  as well as the Jazz & Blues Stage at next year’s Glastonbury.  I also had a two page feature in Maverick Magazine which wrote 'Walk With Me is inspiring through and through. The quality of both the musicianship and lyrical content are second to none'.
September 2010

 September was a very busy month with gigs in Ireland, London, and Kent. There were yet more amazing reviews of ‘Walk With Me’ including one in the UK’s biggest music magazine Q (see below). My version of ‘She Moved Through The Fair’ was played on BBC Radio 3 (Late Junction). There were great support slots with Nine Below Zero and Hayseed Dixie

August 2010

August was an amazing month for me with shows all over the UK, a couple of shows in Holland and the highlight, two performances at the Cambridge Folk Festival. It was a great weekend with a performance at the Brian McNeil session and then a second gig on the Sunday. I sold out of cd’s and had a great time. July was a good month for gigs in Stamford at the Riverside Festival, in London, a live session with BBC Radio Cambridge with Sue Marchant, and slots this weekend at the Secret Garden Party, and Maryport Blues Festival. In between all of this, the legendary Bob Harris played the title track from my new album ‘Walk With Me’. This will be followed by a live session on the show in December

June 2010

Last month ws a busy month playing 11 shows in London, York and Beverley at the lovely Beverley Folk Festival. It was great weekend, the highlight of which was supporting the brilliant Martin Simpson in the main concert hall. The new album 'Walk With Me' will be released on the 14th July.

May was a busy month with shows in London, Lingfield and Banbury. As well as the filming of some new live videos by the fantastic Paul Carpenter of Alchemy Films. I had a pretty busy April with shows in Stamford, Kettering, East Grinstead, London and Portsmouth. More festival confirmations as well as the Cambridge Folk Festival, Beverley Folk Festival, Secret Garden Party, Solfest, Maryport Blues Festival & Rhythm Festivals. A great summer of shows planned along with a new album

March 2010  

I had a manic March playing around 15 gigs and also finishing off the recording of my new album in Dublin. The album is in a great shape and will be released in the summer months.On the strength of a couple of tracks from the new record I have just been confirmed for the Cambridge Folk Festival. An amazing festival and one of the biggest shows I have played. So, all very exciting stuff.

February 2010

I had a good February playing shows in London and Dorset, at the lovely Barrelhouse Blues Club. I was featured in the Irish Post as a preview to a headlining gig at the Manchester Irish Festival on the 5th March. The new album looks set for the next few months – I’ve been doing filming and photos as preparation over the last couple of weeks.

January 2010

 I haven't been in contact for a while as my December & January have been spent recording my new album in Dublin. It's coming along nicely and includes contributions from legendary BJ Cole (Pedal Steel), Vyvienne Long on cello (Damien Rice), Trevor Hutchinson on bass (The Waterboys), Dave Hingerty on drums (The Frames) and Michael Buckley on saxophone (Mary Coughlan). December 2009

I have been away in Dublin recording my new album. I am working with the amazing Trevor Hutchinson of The Waterboys, Eric Bibb, Lunasa and Sharon Shannon and of bunch of others. The session went really well, recording 12 songs. I will be back in Dublin in January to finish the album off. So, all very exciting stuff.

I have had an amazing year with the release of my album ‘Calcutta Grove’. This was followed by performing on the Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury Festival to a few thousand people and selling out of cd’s. The same thing happened in Switzerland when I supported the legendary John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater. Further support slots with Southside Johnny, Curved Air, Colin Blunstone (The Zombies), Otis Grand, The Groundhogs, and Nine Below Zero. Plus headline slots all over the place and a tour of Ireland in September. 2009 has been my best and busiest year so far and the critical response to Calcutta Grove has been amazing

November 2009

November was a great and very busy month playing shows with Bap Kennedy and Nine Below Zero. I returned to the Tenby Blues Festival performing twice over the weekend. This was followed by shows in Canterbury and at the amazing Charlotte Street Blues Club in London. I was also featured on BBC Radio 3 on the fantastic Ian Mcmillan show 'The Verb', I was interviewed and played a few songs.

October 2009

October was a great month with wonderful weather and a bunch of shows in Manchester and London. I was also played on the legendary Bob Harris BBC Radio 2 show . I was featured two weeks running with 'Calcutta Grove' and my take on the Skip James classic 'Hard Time Killing Floor Blues'. Pleased as punch with this. I was also featured on the Raven N Blues Show - with an interview and performing a few songs. My tracks were also played on Digital Blues.

 September 2009

September was a brilliant  month with loads of great shows including gigs in Derby, London, Essex, and Co Wexford in Eire.

There were loads of new reviews of my album ‘Calcutta Grove’. Classic Rock gave it 8/10 saying, 'slow burning, haunting, dextrous picking ... Taylor is a find’. Acoustic Magazine, wrote 'the raw beauty of the guitar and piano ... fresh, cliche free and tugs at the soul'. The Musicians Union magazine ‘Musican’ wrote, 'stimulating, reflective and tasteful ... fragile melodies and excellent lead guitar ... mainstream stardom beckons'.
Spiral Earth described 'a great grasp of the blues ... original, varied and soulful'.
 
There were also two radio performances - on House Of Mercy, and Raven N Blues.  
These shows are broadcast in the States and across the rest of Europe as well as over here.

 

I now have a new manager Stuart Ongley from SGO Music, and a booking agent, Adastra. Stuart has worked with Eric Bibb, Lunasa and Eleanor McEvoy amongst others. Adastra work with Martin Taylor, Andy Irvine, Donal Lunny, Michael Chapman, and Aly Bain, to name a few.

 
So this is very exciting stuff!!!

August 2009

August was a great month for me with gigs in Hertfordshire, London and Brighton. I was reviewed in Rock N’ Reel which wrote ‘dark and moody ... thunderous ... one to watch’. It was also featured in Subba Cultcha which said I was ‘intoxicating'.

July 2009

I had a great July with shows in Essex, London, Brighton and Switzerland. The gig in Switzerland was a massive show supporting the legendary John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater. I played to a couple of thousand people and sold out of cds – a great evening.

 

I have had loads of reviews for ‘Calcutta Grove’ this month including Blues Matters, it described CG as 'an absolutely spellbinding piece of work - one of the finest acoustic blues albums I have heard in years'. I was given a four Star Review in Uncut; 'formidable and skilled ... pleasingly atmospheric ... recalls Chris Isaak’

June 2009
June was a truly amazing month with a little tour of the north, a few London shows, a gig in Bournemouth and a gig on Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury. The show at Glastonbury was in front of a few thousand and I sold out of cd's. I had a great festival playing a number of smaller gigs over the weekend and performing a slot on Worthy FM.

 

I’ve also had some great reviews for my album 'Calcutta Grove’; Blues Matters described 'an absolutely spellbinding piece of work - one of the finest acoustic blues albums I have heard in years'. Net Rhythms also wrote 'a consummate artist … exquisitely moulded guitar work … original and supremely distinctive. Plus, I did various Radio shows for House Of Mercy (to be aired very soon) and Oban FM in Scotland.
